If you are marketing your business without considering this! Then you are joking
Every business requires customers to stay afloat, without customers a business will simply perish. Attracting and keeping customers is one of the biggest challenges your business will face which is why there is need for an effective marketing plan for every business, and recently in the digital era – an internet marketing plan.
However, there is a subset of internet marketing that is often neglected or under-utilised by marketers and businesses – Email Marketing.
Consider some of this facts:
1. Email marketing has been in existence for more than a decade, long before social media, blogs and the explosion in mobile usage.
2. In addition, did you know that email has nearly three times as many user accounts as Facebook and Twitter combined? That’s a whopping 2.9 billion; you even need an email to open a facebook or twitter account.
3. Everyone that transact online has an email, some even have up to 5.
4. The combination of all the web search made on every search engine every day equals just 1/100th of daily email traffic; and all the pages viewed on the entire web each day—including images and videos—use only a quarter of the bandwidth consumed by email.
Many internet marketers and businesses do not know some of the above statistics and are busy chasing the new buzz in internet marketing.
Some might even start wandering why the above statistics matter in comparison to other internet marketing channel like facebook and twitter, but a strategic implementation of an email marketing plan for your business will drive in more sales and provide customers retention; in fact your marketing efforts on other media should be for data mining – collecting customers information – email inclusive, to keep a personal relationship with customers.
In conclusion, it’s very important to be professional with the deployment of email for your business marketing. Some businesses in Nigeria still send emails with traditional emails like Yahoo and Gmail, some send un-professional emails with no graphics design or branding, some send unsolicited emails that will end up in recipients spam or junk folders while some don’t send at all etc
